news Record attendance during the long weekend in the UAE at Expo 2020 Dubai 22 October 2021

The long weekend in the United Arab Emirates, which began on Thursday 21 October with the celebration of the Birth Anniversary of the Prophet Eid-Milad Nnabi, proved to be the perfect time for many to visit Expo 2020 Dubai.

Despite the still high temperatures, thousands of people, foreign tourists and locals alike, braved the heat to secure access to the best pavilions, events, shows and initiatives of the Universal Exhibition.

According to The National News, the number of visitors registered at the Expo since its opening on October 1st were 770,000 and then suddenly peaked at 1.5 million after the weekend. Among the longest queues on Thursday and Friday afternoon were those for the UAE, Saudi Arabia, United States, Italy, India and Switzerland Pavilions.

The San Marino Pavilion held its own, closing on Friday with 5000 visitors who crossed the threshold in one day. A great achievement for all the managing staff and volunteers, who celebrated together with the many tourists who were wandering the pavilion, discovering the Treasure of Domagnano and the fascinating history of the Republic.

Commissioner General for Expo Mauro Maiani comments on the great result: "I am very pleased to be able to announce that just a few days after the start of this great event, the flow of visitors who come to visit us at the San Marino Pavilion is constantly rising and that we have already reached 5000 visitors in a single day. This is an unprecedented number for out Pavilion, since in the last edition of Milan Expo 2015 we recorded these daily turnouts much further ahead. The weakening of the pandemic and the arrival of the high season in Dubai are very promising elements to hope that visitors can continue to increase exponentially, not only during the weekends. The San Marino Pavilion is ready to welcome the world and we expect great results".
