news The first visit of a Sheikh to the San Marino Pavilion 07 October 2021

Dubai - Wednesday 27th October

Today’s visit at the San Marino pavilion of Sheikh H.H. Ammar bin Humaid Al Nuaimi Crown Prince of Ajman, one of the 7 cities that compose the United Arab Emirates, underlines the importance of the participation of small countries like San Marino at Expo 2020 Dubai.

The Sheikh arrived at the San Marino Pavilion in the morning and was welcomed by the Director Letizia Cardelli, the three managers Ilaria Brizi, Elisabetta Bucci and Sara Conti and the volunteers who, with their enthusiasm and impeccable preparation, presented the entire exhibition space to the Sheikh and his official delegation.

The guided tour lasted about 15 minutes, during which the Prince proved himself very intrigued by the Treasure of Domagnano and amazed by the special connection between San Marino and the Emirates, additionally represented by the precious eagle-shaped fibula on display at the Louvre Abu Dhabi.

The visit then continued with another long stop in front of the crossbow, symbol of San Marino defence and freedom, as well as at the interactive table where the country system is illustrated, and at the shop where the volunteers showed and described the handicraft products on sale. The visit ended with a warm greeting in Italian from H.H. Ammar Bin Humaid Al Nuaimi, who expressed his heartfelt thanks and the wish to visit the Titano soon.

The Director of the Pavilion Letizia Cardelli commented on the visit of the Sheikh: "This is the first visit by a member of the royal family of one of the seven Emirates. It shows us how this Expo is unique and different from the others and how it represents a world level event. Moreover, this allows us to achieve our macro-objective, which has always been that of presenting the Republic of San Marino to the rest of the world, especially in an area where our country is not known".

The visit constitutes an important recognition for San Marino, and it demonstrates a real interest in the country, that is added to the public acclaim received in recent days. Last weekend the Pavilion has indeed welcomed 5 thousand visitors in a single day and 30 thousand since the beginning of the event on 1st October.
