Libertas

A symbol of freedom and future.

Created by Italian artist Simone Legno, co-founder and Chief Creative Officer of the international brand tokidoki, Libertas embodies the very essence of the Republic of San Marino.

Her name, Libertas, recalls the iconic Statue of Liberty and symbolizes San Marino’s resilience in defending its independence throughout the centuries. The choice to depict her as a young girl reflects the Expo’s theme, “Designing Future Society for Our Lives”, highlighting the importance of building a better future for the next generations.

Libertas’ design incorporates elements from the Republic’s coat of arms: the three towers, which can also be found in the details of her eyes, and the feathers. Her green hair represents nature and Mount Titano, where San Marino stands, while the fan she holds is a tribute to Japan, the host country of Expo 2025.

Libertas is more than just a mascot — she is a bridge between San Marino’s millenary tradition and an innovative future, ready to share with the world the story and values of the world’s oldest Republic.
