San Marino, August 29, 2024 – The logo of the Pavilion of the Republic of San Marino at the Expo that will take place in the Land of the Rising Sun from April 13 to October 13, 2025 was presented late this afternoon in the evocative setting of Cantone – in the presence of the Secretary of State for Tourism with delegation to Expo Federico Pedini Amati and Filippo Francini, Commissioner General of the Government for the Osaka World Expo 2025.
Doing the honors was Secretary of State Pedini Amati, who opened the meeting by welcoming those present and insisting on the importance for San Marino to participate in showcases such as the Expo in order to strengthen relationships and create new ones where there are none, both at the institutional and tourism and business levels; Francini then briefly updated on the progress of the work regarding the Titan’s participation in the international kermesse, anticipating the release of calls for entries that will select the volunteers who will represent the country in Japan.
To tell the concept of the logo that will characterize the participation of the Titan in the Japanese expo next year, the young San Marino art director and designer Giulia Galassi as the leader of the aggregation Studio JAM, the communication agency that, having participated in the selection procedure for the entrusting of the realization and management of the communication plan, content and coordinated image for the pavilion of the Republic of San Marino at Expo 2025 Osaka, after a careful evaluation by the Judging Committee, was awarded the project.
The San Marino Pavilion logo is a citation to the Expo 1970 Osaka experience, as well as being first and foremost the graphic synthesis of the symbology of the two states: on the one hand, the outer red circle representative of the Japanese Rising Sun and its iconic flag, on the other hand, the three inner circles that recall the three Towers and the peaks of the mountain on which they rest, which is the main inspiration of the architectural layout of the Pavilion, which, we recall, is the result of a project curated by the University of the Republic of San Marino with which the Commissariat has started a close collaboration in recent months.
The color and typographic choices contribute to a contemporary and impactful communication capable of developing coherently on the multiple media and situations that will arise, with the aim of innovating the narrative of the world’s oldest republic.
On the working team, along with Galassi in charge of the project, are Studio JAM co-founder Gazmend Zaneli, a graphic and motion designer from Rimini, who is designing the brand identity and communication supports inside the pavilion and at the planned side events; Prof. Davide Rampello, creative director of Rampello & Partners, which has significant international experience in the world of universal expositions having curated the Italian Pavilion at Expo 2010 Shanghai and Expo 2020 Dubai and Pavilion Zero at Expo 2015 Milan, who will be in charge of creative direction, concept and text development; Matteo Ermeti, director and video maker, who will translate the concept into moving images; photographer Alessio Pellicoro; and the San Marino-based company Letvar, which has taken charge of the programming of all digital tools.
